Hot Topics: The Future of #metoo

Tuesday, January 9 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

One of the most powerful moments of 2017, arguably, was the explosion of the #metoo movement.

Survivors have shattered the silence by coming forward to tell their stories. What happens next?

How will this movement evolve from a local and national cultural perspective?

Join the the discussion with our panelists:

YWCA Regina’s CEO Melissa Coomber-Bendtsen
University of Regina Justice Studies faculty member Hirsch Greenberg
Saskatchewan Aboriginal Women’s Circle board member Geri Linton
Sarah Sempsrott-Ridley, Counsellor, Regina Sexual Assault Centre.

Hot Topics is a monthly panel discussion series hosted by RPL the first Tuesday of each month, featuring exciting conversations about current events and relevant issues led by guest speakers from the community. Topics and speakers are announced one week in advance of each event. Follow Regina Public Library on Facebook for the latest updates.

This Hot Topics panel discussion will be followed by a free screening.

Dir. Attiya Khan, Lawrence Jackman
In A Better Man, co-director Attiya Khan confronts her former partner eight days over the course of a year, sharing their memories of the violence that he inflicted on her during their relationship. A brave work of art, the film also seeks to understand the roots and consequences of violence, and what happens when offenders take responsibility for their actions as survivors work through their trauma.”
