The QCPride Awards

The annual QCPride Awards honour the hard-working leaders of Regina’s LGBTQ community.

QCPride Award nominees are chosen by community members and voted on by the Regina Pride membership.

  • Nomination Period: April 19 to May 14 at 11:59 pm
  • Voting Period: May 16 to May 27 at 11:59 pm

The Award winners will be announced during the QCPride Awards Gala on Wednesday, June 14th.

 The Award Categories

Up-and-Comer Award

This award is presented to a breakthrough supporter of Regina's greater LGBTQ community, who shows great potential as an advocate for equality. This may be demonstrated through actions such as: the organisation of, creation of, or volunteerism in support services or equality initiatives in schools, religious organisations, the workplace, or community groups. This award is open to individuals, groups, or organisations of all ages, genders, and sexual orientations.

RBC Young Person of Pride Award

This award is presented to an individual under 25 years of age who has demonstrated hard work, dedication, and initiative to the support and well-being of Regina's greater LGBTQ community in the past year. This award is open to individuals of any gender identity who identify within the LGBTQ spectrum.

Person of Pride Award

This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated hard work, dedication, and initiative to the support and well-being of Regina's greater LGBTQ community in the past year. This award is open to individuals of any gender identity who identify within the LGBTQ spectrum.

Political Support in Pride Award

This award is presented to an elected representative ("politician") of a municipal, provincial, federal, or First Nations government with a constituency within the Regina metropolitan area*. The recipient will have demonstrated public support of their region’s LGBTQ community through such actions as the creation or re-development of legislation that directly helps the community, lobbying for positive support and action, conspicuous involvement in LGBTQ organisations, and general activism. This award is open to such elected individuals of all ages, genders, and sexual orientations.

UNIFOR Lifetime Achievement Award

This award is presented to an individual, group, or organisation who has demonstrated a lifetime of hard work and dedication to the support and well-being of Regina's greater LGBTQ community. The winner will have volunteered many years, contributing significantly to the community at large to better its well-being, identity, and support services. This award is open to individuals, groups, or organisations of all ages, gender identities, and sexual orientations.

Kim Kosmynka Ally of the Year Award

In 2012, Queen City Pride first presented this award in memory of a dear friend to Regina’s LGBTQ community, Kim Kosmynka. Kim spent many years of her life volunteering and working for numerous gender and sexual diversity-focussed groups and initiatives. Her passing left a void in Regina's LGBTQ community and we are forever grateful for her life of support and love. This award is open to individuals, groups, or organisations of all ages and genders who identify as an ally, outside of the LGBTQ spectrum.

Creative Spirit Award

This award is presented to an individual or group who showcases the creative talents of Regina's greater gender and sexually diverse community, either through their own identification within the LGBTQ spectrum or through representation which helps to grow the community's positive presence within Regina's creative culture. This may be demonstrated through creative talent, contributions, curation, or original works in the visual or performing arts, writing or publishing. This award is open to individuals and groups of all ages, gender identities, and sexual orientations.

Nominations are open to the public until Sunday, May 14th, 2017.
