FEATURE: CARLA HARRIS
*****************************************

Carla Harris is a disabled queer interdisciplinary artist and inclusive community builder. Harris performed at Verses Festival in Vancouver (2017) & Saskatoon Poetic Arts Festival (2018). Rooted in music, theatre & writing, the arts continually lift her to appreciate her disabled experience, while gradually working to bring harder stories forward.

EVENT INFORMATION: PRIDE STAGE
*****************************************
Regina Word Up has provided Regina with spoken word events since 2011 in the Queen City. It has sent poetry slam teams annually to compete in national competitions.

In celebration of Queen City Pride Festival from June 7-16th, 2019, we bring you Regina Word Up — Share Your Pride community stage.

We are very grateful to the Queen City Pride Bursary that makes this event possible.

WHO CAN PERFORM?
*****************************************
A community stage is an opportunity to share work with our peers and greater community. No scores and all support, this event is a great opportunity for folks who want more exposure or practice, or want to share something that doesn’t usually fit within our regular poetry slams.

We encourage performers or content that is LGBTQ2IA* related to be inclusive of the spectrum of queer, and how we make art from it, at our June event. All ages are welcome.

*****************************************
WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES?
*****************************************
There is a gentle time limit of 5 minutes per person to allow enough time for all of our community. If you have more to share than that, we will allow you another five minute block after everyone has performed, time permitting.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
******************************************

If you are interested in volunteering, sponsoring, supporting, collaborating or have ideas that may benefit Regina Word Up and the development of our spoken word communities, please contact the Creative City Centre at spokenword@creativecitycentre.ca

GUIDELINES, COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS AND CONSENT STATEMENTS
*****************************************

At the Creative City Centre we always strive for inclusivity and respect in the community both inside and out of our facility, which is why we have compiled the following guidelines to remember both for our events and also in everyday life.

• We encourage respecting the way folks self identify, without assuming gender, sexuality, orientation, religion, or ability.
• We understand that at times folks may need to leave or engage in other methods of self-care, and that’s okay. If we can keep ourselves safe, we can encourage safe and healthy communities.
• We encourage the availability of gender-neutral washrooms for all guests.
• We encourage language that promotes inclusivity, education, and awareness and dislike all forms of explicit ignorance including, but not limited to, hate speech, racism, homophobia, transphobia, and classism.
• We encourage the culture of consent meaning we respect people’s physical, verbal, and emotional boundaries. This means respecting that some people might not want to be hugged and if you want to engage physically in any way with a person it is important to ask permission before doing so.
