The QCPride Awards
The annual QCPride Awards Gala celebrates and honors the achievements, resilience, and diversity of Regina’s 2SLGBTQIAP+ community. This fabulous evening brings together individuals, organizations, and allies who have significantly contributed to advancing the community’s rights, visibility, and well-being. The QCPride Awards Gala recognizes excellence in various categories, including advocacy, artistry, activism, community leadership, and allyship. It provides a platform to showcase individuals and groups’ outstanding talents, accomplishments, and initiatives within the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community. The QCPride Awards Gala is a celebration and an opportunity to raise awareness, foster connections, and inspire future generations of 2SLGBTQIAP+ leaders. It is a powerful reminder of the progress made and the continued work needed to create a more inclusive and affirming society for all gender and sexual identities.

The Award Categories
Up-and-Comer Award
This award is presented to a breakthrough supporter of Regina’s greater 2SLGBTQIAP+ community, who shows great potential as an advocate for equality. This may be demonstrated through actions such as: the organization of, creation of, or volunteerism in support services or equality initiatives in schools, religious organizations, the workplace, or community groups.
This award is open to individuals, groups, or organizations of all ages, genders, and sexual orientations.
Young Person of Pride Award
The Young Person of Pride Award recognizes and celebrates exceptional young individuals who have demonstrated remarkable courage, leadership, and resilience in advocating for the rights and well-being of the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community. This award acknowledges young people 24 years of age or younger who have shown unwavering commitment in promoting inclusivity, equality, and acceptance, despite the challenges they may face. Whether through organizing events, raising awareness, providing support, or initiating positive change, this award’s recipients have significantly impacted their communities and beyond within the previous year. Their efforts have helped create safer and more affirming spaces for 2SLGBTQIAP+ individuals, inspiring others to embrace their authentic selves and challenging societal norms. The Young Person of Pride Award highlights these young individuals’ outstanding contributions and inspiring activism, acknowledging their role as change-makers and advocates for a more inclusive and accepting world.

Person of Pride Award
This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated hard work, dedication, and initiative to the support and well-being of Regina’s greater 2SLGBTQIAP+ community in the past year.

2SLGBTQIAP+ Advocate Award
This award is presented to an individual who has shown exceptional dedication, advocacy, and support for the rights and well-being of the diverse 2SLGBTQIAP+ community. This award recognizes those who have tirelessly worked to advance the rights, visibility, and inclusivity of 2SLGBTQIAP+ individuals, challenging discrimination and fostering an environment of acceptance and equality. Recipients of this award have demonstrated exceptional leadership, compassion, and allyship, actively striving to create safer spaces, promote social justice, and combat stigma and prejudice. Their advocacy extends beyond mere awareness-raising, as they actively engage in education, policy reform, community support, and empowerment initiatives. The 2SLGBTQIAP+ Advocate Award celebrates the remarkable contributions of these individuals, highlighting their ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive and affirming society for all gender and sexual minorities.

Academic Excellence Award
This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and a commitment to scholarly pursuits. This award acknowledges students who have consistently excelled in their academic endeavors, displaying exceptional intellectual curiosity, discipline, and dedication to their studies. Recipients of this award have not only attained exceptional grades but have also exhibited a deep understanding of their subject matter, critical thinking skills, and a thirst for knowledge. Their academic excellence is marked by their ability to consistently surpass expectations, engage in rigorous research, contribute to class discussions, and demonstrate a high level of intellectual rigor. The Academic Excellence Award celebrates these exceptional individuals and serves as a testament to their exemplary commitment to learning and pursuit of academic excellence.

Creative Spirit Award
This award is presented to an individual or group who showcases an exceptional and inspiring creative spirit, bringing forth innovation, imagination, and originality in their artistic pursuits. This award recognizes those who have made significant contributions to the world of arts and creativity, demonstrating a profound passion for self-expression and pushing the boundaries of traditional artistic forms. Recipients of this award have exhibited a remarkable ability to think outside the box, breathe life into their ideas, and transform their visions into tangible works of art which helps to grow the community’s positive presence within Regina’s creative culture. This may be demonstrated through creative talent, contributions, curation, or original works in the visual or performing arts, writing, or publishing.
This award is open to individuals and groups of all ages, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
RBC Pride In Business Award
This award is open to any and all Regina businesses who have shown exemplary dedication to uplifting and supporting the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community. This can be demonstrated in many forms, such as: providing gender-inclusive facilities and dress codes, ongoing DEI/2SLGBTQIAP+ training for staff, financial or in-kind contributions or sponsorship of queer organizations or events, volunteer involvement, hosting events or providing safe spaces, public advocacy for 2SLGBTQIAP+ rights, and/or other forms of support.
Open to all businesses.
Kim Kosmynka Ally of the Year Award
In 2012, Queen City Pride first presented this award in memory of a dear friend to Regina’s 2SLGBTQIAP+ community, Kim Kosmynka. Kim spent many years of her life volunteering and working for numerous gender and sexual diversity-focused groups and initiatives. Her passing left a void in Regina’s 2SLGBTQIAP+ community and we are forever grateful for her life of support and love.
This award is open to individuals, groups, or organizations of all ages and genders who identify as an ally, outside of the 2SLGBTQIAP+ spectrum.
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is presented to an individual, group, or organization who has demonstrated a lifetime of hard work and dedication to the support and well-being of Regina’s greater 2SLGBTQIAP+ community. The winner will have volunteered many years, contributing significantly to the community at large to better its well-being, identity, and support services.
This award is open to individuals, groups, or organizations of all ages, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
